Meet Molly, our August mom of the month!
Molly is mom to cute little Lainie, (1) who is known in class for the cutest cry and bottom lip pout. This mom become a member in the beginning of the year and had a 4 month streak of coming 4 days a week, every week....That's impressive. Especially during the cold weather months when it's hard to leave the house but nothing stopped her. She can multi-task like no other, while sitting in a wall sit she ordered tickets to an event for our moms night out. This mom pushes herself and is always open to try whatever crazy workout we have in store that day. Molly makes us laugh, and she always comes to class with a smile on her face no matter how many times Lainie kept her up the night before. Originally from Minnesota, we are so glad she made her home here in Milwaukee. We love having you as part of Our Village, Molly! Keep up the good work!
What is your fave thing about Stroller Strides? Hands down the variety in exercises and being a part of the mom tribe. Before I was a stay at home mom, I worked at an office that had access to a gym and I loved the elliptical. I would do the elliptical every day and clearly my body adapted and it wasn't very challenging anymore. Every day in Strides is totally different. Not only does that keep it interesting and engaging, you see results so much faster! I also love the village Tracy has built. This village has been a godsend of support, advice, and encouragement. They are such a great resource for when teething is making you pull your hair out or when you're having a hard day and doubting yourself as a mom. Sometimes Lainie is fussy during class and instead of stares or eye rolls, moms run over with different toys or Tracy entertains her so I can finish the class. Talk about a supportive group!
What is your favorite exercise at Stroller Strides? I love all the lunges and squats we do. I'm super proud of the definition in my legs and booty and my husband frequently tells me to thank Tracy ;) I also love when we have circuit days with the ropes and different weights. I can't believe when the instructor says it's time to cool down and stretch--those classes fly by!
What is your favorite part about being a mom? Definitely the bond I've developed with her. I love how she smiles when she sees me and when she is completely content and crawls into my lap for a snuggle. I live for moments like that. It's such a joy and privilege to watch her learn and grow. Animals are a big thing for her now so anytime we can get to the zoo or even just the pet store to look at the fish, she gets so excited. I love seeing her connect dots to animals she sees in books and ones she sees in real life. It's like learning to see and appreciate the world all over again.
Favorite thing to do when Lainie is napping? While I love a quick nap on the couch or to veg out and catch up on one of my shows, more often than not though it's cleaning, catching up on the to do list, and laundry. I feel like I get a start on each and then she wakes up before I can finish one. Those naps are never long enough ;)
What is your favorite thing to do as a family? The zoo is big one. We decided to get a zoo pass as a family for Christmas and we've definitely gotten a lot of use out of it. She loves walks with our dog Walter and swinging on our playset too. Now that it's summertime, we've been taking advantage of the local beer garden in town and she loves being outside and listening to the live music.
What is something about you that someone may not know? I went to the London Summer Olympics in 2012! Next to becoming a mother and marrying my husband, it was the highlight of my life. My parents were living in London at the time and we were lucky enough to get tickets to the Opening Ceremony and a few events and it was the most spectacular thing I've ever seen. I'm such an Olympics junkie and hope to attend a winter Olympics in my lifetime too.
What is your favorite healthy and unhealthy food? Favorite healthy food would be avocados. I love them mashed on toast with a drizzle of honey for breakfast or a squeeze of lemon for a quick snack. Unhealthy food would be a toss up between barbecue and frozen custard. I married a Texan who introduced me to true barbecue and brisket burnt ends are one of the best things I've ever had. I'm also a Wisconsin girl so frozen custard is a given too.
What is your favorite color? I've always loved green. Bright and cheery.
What is your favorite song or artist? Absolutely obsessed with Glorious by Macklemore right now. The music video is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen and the lyrics are amazing. Another current obsession would be anything by the Chainsmokers and I've always loved bands across the pond especially Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, and Coasts.
What TV shows are you currently watching? Game of Thrones is rocking my world this season! Gosh, that show is so good. My other summer guilty pleasure is Big Brother. I'm also a life long fan of the Real Housewives of Anywhere and Born this Way on A&E. My goddaughter was born with Down Syndrome so it holds a special place in my heart and is such an inspirational show.
